Paying For Hospice Care

Elderly with social worker

Hospice care is an established part of the health care system. Hospice care services are covered by:

  • Medicare
  • Tricare
  • Medicaid
  • Private Insurance Plans

Hospice care costs are covered in full by Medicare, Tricare, Medicaid, and most private insurance plans. There is essentially no expense to the patient. The covered costs include costs for services, medications, medical supplies, and home medical equipment related to the hospice diagnosis. Novel Hospice Care will assist patients in determining eligibility for coverage.

Covered hospice services typically include:

  • Physician services
  • Nursing care services
  • Medical equipment and supplies
  • Medication for symptom control and pain management
  • Physical, occupational and speech therapies
  • Social services
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Grief counseling
  • Hospice aide support

For patients under Medicare, Medicare provides a comprehensive booklet of hospice benefits.
