Caring for the whole person – body, soul and spirit – includes helping to meet the spiritual needs of the patient and family. At Novel Hospice Care, the Spiritual Counselor assesses the patient’s and family’s spiritual needs, then develops a plan of care to meet identified needs.
The Spiritual Counselor is available to visit and provide emotional and spiritual support to patients and their families, guiding them through sometimes difficult decisions. The Spiritual Counselor also coordinates support with the patient’s personal clergy when desired. This program also uses churches and congregations to aid the patient and family as requested. The Spiritual Counselor can also provide bereavement support.
